Tucked on the River Lea in the White Building, Crate was established in 2012 when the London Olympics was in full swing just over the canal. The original building had a colourful past, used as a print factory in it’s heyday before becoming a squat and finally Crate rescuing it and returning it to glory.
Their experimental brewhouse is where they create all the Limited Edition beers which are poured straight in the taproom bar, alongside the full Crate range as well as showcasing the best of the craft beer from around the world...
The White Building is host to a variety of spaces: If you want to try the full beer range and love a pizza then the taproom is your home from home. Hand-rolled, stone-baked pizzas made with the freshest ingredients looking out over the canal is the perfect place to meet friends and have a few pints.
The building also hosts a market space, selling a range of homewares, gifts, grocery and bottles with a focus on low waste and sustainability.
Silo is the world’s first zero-waste restaurant located on the first floor. Partnering with Douglas McMaster, an award winning chef - it’s open for lunch and dinner.
And if all that wasn’t enough - Alfred Le Roy is the brands good ship on the River Lea, right outside the taproom bar.
“From the staples to the Limited Specials, there’s a crate take on style, flavour and taste - and one for every occasion”.
Choose from a crisp and refreshing lager with a hoopy aroma, or a Session IPA bursting with big fruity flavours perfect for long afternoons. If pale ale is more up your street then there’s one with tropical flavours or a cider made from only the juiciest of apples, crisp and super fresh. A golden and bright beer sits alongside these offerings with a hint of honey and delicate floral notes or for those of a stout persuasion there’s one which is silky smooth with big, rich, roasty flavours.
Options inclue Lager, IPA or Pale ale, with a personalised card so you can tell them how special they are.
